Colours of Tradition – Kingswood British College, Anamaduwa Branch

On 10th April 2025, Kingswood British College – Anamaduwa Branch proudly celebrated Colours of Tradition & Traditional New Year Games 2025, blending the elegance of Sri Lankan cultural attire with the excitement of Sinhala and Tamil New Year festivities. This vibrant celebration reflected our mission to preserve national heritage while creating joyful, interactive, and educational experiences for students.

The day began with the Colours of Tradition parade, where students wore beautiful Sri Lankan traditional costumes representing the country’s diverse cultural heritage. The school premises were adorned with colourful designs, traditional motifs, and festive décor, creating a lively and celebratory atmosphere.

Following the cultural showcase, students participated in Traditional New Year Games such as kana mutti bindeema (pot-breaking), kotta pora (pillow fighting), grease pole climbing, banis kema (bun-eating), and onchillawa (swinging). These activities promoted teamwork, sportsmanship, and community bonding, while providing a fun and immersive way to experience Sinhala and Tamil New Year traditions.

Under the visionary leadership of Dr. Kasun Bamunukula, Kingswood British College continues to provide a holistic education that combines academic learning with cultural pride, leadership development, and lifelong memories.
